For me, self-care is communal care. It means reaching out to others for support and supporting others.

A mantra that steers my life is “tend to the area of the garden you can reach.” If we only did that, if we only made sure that the people within our garden, within our reach, within our inner circle are ok, and made it a habit to lift others and in turn lift ourselves, then we can shift what it means to have community and lift everybody up.
